N600 modem router good download speed but pages load slowly

Hi all, We recently upgraded to 150 gigs with Cox and I am also using an ethernet cable to my laptop. According to various speedtests I am getting 150 gigs and sometimes even more. The problem is that websites are still loading slowly especially when I first access them. The same problem persists on phones that are connected to the Netgear N600. Is there a setting I need to change to increase load times or any twaeks you would recommend? Rebooted and resetted router and all connected devices plenty of times.  Firmware Version for the Router is V2.02.21
Thanks for your help!

I'd expect "first access" to imply a DNS look-up.  (A local cache
could make repeated look-ups much faster.)

I'd look into the DNS server(s) being used, on the router, on the
    individual client device, ...

Thanks antinode for your reply. What is more, the ethernet cable seems to be slower than the wireless connection. The tested download speed (fast.com) is about a tenth then what I get with ethernet cable but the felt speed is much better when I am using wireless. Sites open up faster etc. This all puzzles me as the router has been working ok so far. The DNS setting of the router is set to dynamic at the moment.
