N600 Not working with new Spectrum account

A friend gave me his N600 modem router, but it seems like it's configured to his Spectrum account. When we try to activate it on Spectrum's website, it says my login credentials are invalid. I changed my password and verified that I can log in on my phone. He is able to log in with his account information, but gets an "Activation Unavailable" error. We're assuming that's because his Spectrum account is inactive. Has anyone ran into this issue before? Any thoughts on how to resolve?

You put that you have the D3600. Which is a dsl modem. Not a cable modem (which spectrum uses).

So what device are you using?

or do you already have a modem and are trying to connect the D3600 to it?

If its not a d3600, did you friend call spectrum and get the device removed from his account?

Or did you call them and  try activating via the mac and not just through the online activation?
