I have this same issue. C3700-100NAS with Cox Cable. Works very fast when it works but drops connections with lots of DoS attacks (SYN floods) in the logs. DoS is enabled.
I'll call netgear (again) since I'm within 90 days but wanting to chime in with same issue as OP.
