Net gear c6300 add on…?
I have old ac1750 c6300
still works fairly well for what I need… however with more speed the more devices connected it drops. We had stabilized fairly well with wired devices 1 or 2 and a tplink deco 2021 gen( for most all wireless devices). The new decos that were replaced do not work properly and have internal firewall that hijacks this net gear router, blocks access. I’m going to return it but was wondering with my cable modem/router;
I want to stick with net gear and possibly add a net gear access point on top of the c6300…
or should I just upgrade the modem/router completely.??
I want to have option of 2 wired devices with at least 1 wired.
and rest will be wireless 3+ devices at least

The modem is getting up in age as newer stuff has surpassed the C series modem. However one could configure the C6300 for modem only mode and connect up something externally for a wifi router system.

Maybe a Nighthawk MESH system would be something to review:

Or you could run the C6300 in gateway mode with it's wifi disabled and configure an MK system for AP mode as well.
I found my MK63 on Amazon used for cheap. Works great after getting it updated with FW.
