The 1 tb still works?
did you just change out the drive and use the same enclosure or did you buy a new enclosure?

Thank you for replying.
No. I've tried different drives from 120 Gb. up to the 2 Tb. drive. Every one shows up as ready on the home screen. See attached image.
Since my first post:
1. reset the cable modem / router to default settings
2. rebuilt my network, I'll call it Orion_the_Hunter
3. reentered requested ip addresses, mac addresses and device names.
4. moved the computer seven or eight more feet away from the cable modem / router.
I still am not able to access the drive from any device on the network neither desktop nor the laptop.
There is also a problem with machines NOT using the ip address assigned through the Access Control. That's a different problem.
Given the number of hours I've spent on this, I'm debating about going out and buying a different brand and taking a hammer to this cable modem / router.

I'm still not clear if you used the same enclosure or not.
Did you format the drive properly?

Instead of taking a hammer to it and having to buy a new router, invest in a cheap NAS enclosure. Much better performance then cobbling together a router based NAS

No, I didn't use the same enclosure. You need to read posts completely before you start responding.
As I previous stated, the 2 Tb. drive is a 2.5 inch drive while MOST newer drives of 1 Tb. or less are 1.5" high. The enclosures I usually use are too small for the 2 Tb. drive.
I've been involved with computers since 1974, before there were any computers other than main frames and minis.I knew how to format a drive before you were born.
Please don't gloss over the fact that a 1 Tb. drive previously worked and doesn't now.
Both are set up with a gpt partition table and an NTFS format. NTFS is so that the drive is visible to both Linux (my OS as long as it's been around) and Windows should I need to work on something sent me from a Windows user). Both desktops are dual boot with both having Linux Mint Una (20.3). One has Windows 7 and the other Windows 10.
NTFS is a format that Netgear says is acceptable and again, IT WORKED PREVIOUSLY AND NO LONGER DOES!
I don't work with people who insult me (how stupid do you have to be NOT to know how to format a drive) and send me to links that don't help, (the model number of the Netgear router is C6230 as it says in the message title. It ISN'T on your list of models with "approved" drives).
Given your "GURU" status I'm presuming you're an employee or otherwise affiliated with Netgear because you've looked for a cause everywhere EXCEPT my cable modem / router.
I trust you'll forgive me if I don't respond any further to your posts. I've addressed TWO of your questions before you asked. All you've done is make it appear as though it couldn't be the equipment that once worked and no longer does.
