Netgear AC1200
Cn I use the router w/o a modem? I just replaced my old Netgear AC 1200 for a new one. I didn't have a modem before and it worked. I am pretty sure I didn't have one at least? My son who can't be reached for a week disconnected the old one but, I don't remember having a modem before.
The internet cable from the fiber-optic box came through the wall and into the "internet" port then the "Ethernet " port ran from the router to the desktop. Or am I wrong?

Plug what comes from the fiber box into the Internet port - all other devices into the other LAN ports (desktop / printer, etc). Make sure you change the default router login password and the wireless passphrases on the new router. You don't want to get hacked..
