I guess i'm curious why you think you need to remove a serial.
Is it on someone else's account at xfinity?
Xfinity should be able to add it to your account if its new.
Was it previously registered?
What exactly is going? A bit more clarity might help understand your issue.

I have been trying to work with Xfinity to link it, but they noted that after 4 attempts, Netgear needed to remove the serial number. Their exact feedback is: I am getting the error message that eq couldn't be added to inventory: The serial number already exists, so it may be linked to another account, that is the reason I am unable to add the modem on your account. Please contact your modem manufacturer".
I had registered it to an Xfinity account that no longer exists in August, Xfinity has removed this account, moved to a new state and got rid of my internet, and got a new account recently when settling into a new state. This is my own EQ, not a rental from Xfinity.

it shouldn't be a serial number you're giving xfinity but the mac address.
And you have to make sure your giving the appropriate one

Hi. Yes. I am familiar with serial numbers versus MAC numbers. I have given them both and the issue Xfinity has noted is that the serial is link to another account, so that the MAC number cannot be added. This is not a 'me' issue. It is a system issue.

yes, with xfnity.
If it worked before the hardware hasn't failed. its xfinity that is having an issue with their system.
If they messed something up in their system, its on them to fix it.
