Netgear C7000 and A7000 seem to have poor real world speeds

The A7000 USB WiFi adaptor now seems to be working after uninstalling all the WAN miniport network adaptors in the Device Manager and having them automatically reinstall upon reboot. 5GHz WiFi download speed from my desktop PC using the adaptor is now reporting a solid 480Mbps transfer rate which is excellent (Spectrum 400+ Mbps ISP). I'll periodically monitor the performance and replace it with an adaptor from a different vendor if it starts to exhibit transfer issues again. The C7000v2 gateway is still a no go and it's being used as a modem only and I think the router portion is junk.
