Netgear CAX80 2 Gig speed
Greetings,
I recently changed to 2 gig service with comcast infinity. I was on 1 gig service for about a year. At the router I was getting over 900 mbps so things seemed to work.
The Netgear CAX80 didn't recognize the increased speed when I changed to 2 gig. I tested the speed directly at the router. I rebooted after a day and didn't see the increased speed.
According to the specs Netgear CAX 80 does support this speed. Comcast states they are indeed sending the 2 gig signal.
I'm looking for some suggestions. I bought this modem/router specifically so I could upgrade my service later to the 2 gig service.
Thank you all.
Greetings,
Thank you for the information, I see you are correct. The ads of course indicated it would work but hey we know how that goes.
In the past it was always less expensive to own my own modem and router. I'm thinking now that with the rapid technology changes it might make more sense to lease one from comcast. Because i have to turn around in a year or two and purchase a new one to take advantage of the improved tech.
I have reverted to 1 gig in the meantime for another year or so as I see how things will play out.
Thank you for the really good information!

I don't think the CAX80 is on the ISPs Next Gen Speed Teir list:

What device and program are you using to measure the throughput and how is it connecting to your CAX80?
The CAX80 is not on the Xfinity certified list for their Next Generation network. It should work well with the 2 Gbps download but will not work for the 300 Mbps enhanced upload. Upload should be limited to 30-40 Mbps.
