Netgear Cm1000 and Orbi RBR50
So I got tired of paying a monthly fee for the Xfinity modem/router combo and pulled the trigger on the Cm1000 modem and Orbi router with a single satellite package around 7 months ago. Setup was a breeze and it has been working fantastically up until 5 days ago. All of a sudden we’ve been having drops in internet while still showing connected to the WiFi. All lights on the modem would turn off including the power light and would get an amber light on the Ethernet connectivity light on the bottom which would cause the Orbi change to the purple light. I figured there was an issue with either the signal coming into the house or the modem. After power cycling and factory resetting both the modem and routers I had a tech from xfinity come out to make sure everything was peachy on their end. He upgraded a cable or two but said everything was fine and suspected the router as the main culprit. In further testing we found out that the modem would not power cycle or crash if we did not directly connect the Orbi via Ethernet. As soon as the cable was plugged into the Orbi router the WiFi would reestablish and within 30 seconds the modem would crash. I connected the modem directly to a gaming console, as we have no computers that seem to have an Ethernet port anymore, and experienced no crash or drop off. The tech said that he had never seen an issue like this before and said it was either a power supply issue in the modem or a fault with the router. I’m at a total loss and can’t seem to make some headway on the issue, and after spending well over $500 to have this setup it’s been extremely frustrating, especially after working flawlessly for 6+ months.

I would get a new CM1000 or CM1100 modem and try a different modem. IF the ISP has checked everything UP to the modem and the modem seems to be failing. Lets start with a different modem.
ALso be sure that your Orbi is up to date on FW, v2.5.1.8 is most current.
Please post over in the Orbi AC forum for your Orbi needs:
