Netgear cm2050v Bridge Mode

I am trying to purchase a modem or a router/modem combo that I can configure in bridge mode to connect to my own router that leads to my smart home system.  I use Optimum Cable and have 1 gig service.  Can I configure the Netgear CM2050v into Bridge mode.  I currently have a modem from the company that they have said could be configured that way for the last 7 days...now they are saying it is not possible.  Any help much appreciated.

You can't avoid it.  A Netgear CMxxxx model is a modem, not a
    modem+router.  "Bridge mode" = "modem only".  A modem+router (Netgear
Cxxxx model) can have its router features disabled; a modem is a modem.

Without a maker and model number (or some description with more
detail than "I have one"), my psychic powers are too weak to justify
even a guess as to why your ISP might say anything about it.
