Netgear Genie App in NG Modem CM1000v2

I am using the Netgear AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 Router with the Netgear CM1000v2 Cable modem. A few weeks ago I started having problems with logging into the cable modem with Netgear Genie. In browsing the internet I found that there were many people having this problem. I discovered that the Genie app was now obsolete and would no longer be updated. Windows 11 Edge browser reported that it had no certificate. Logging in with username and password resulted in a new login screen popping up. Clicking on the site information lock icon issued a warning that it was not safe. It also did not give you a choice for continuing to the site. Like all of the people posting on the internet with this same problem said, ... HOW am I going to get into my cable modem to view the information there were times when trying to login a prompt would pop up and say the login attempt was rejected. I tried searching the web for adding a certificate for the Genie login app that the browser said was missing. I read many posts and reviews of this problem on the internet, but most people said the suggestions they found did not work. Most of them involved rebooting the modem, doing a hard reset on the modem and doing the same thing with the router. Like everyone else I kept wondering what was wrong. My system setup with modem, router, and other devices are working great with good speeds, so why should I be concerned about not being able to log in to the modem, if it works don't try to fix it. But I could not except this thought as I like to be able to access all of my equipment and devices. But all of the crazy things going on with being able to access the CM1000v2 cable modem with the Genie app was getting to me and I could not let it go. I FOUND A SOLUTION.

To all of the people out there searching for a solution to this problem. I did not find it to be with my ISP, nor my service line, nor my modem, nor my router, nor my PCs, nor my OS, nor my browser, nor missing certificates, nor my Genie app or any of those things. I blush to tell you this and I know that your problems and solutions may be entirely different from mine.

I found that when digging through some old files a password that was set for my Netgear Genie app login to the Netgear CM1000v2 cable modem. I tried this password and now everything is working beautifully as it should be. Some how the password got changed for the Genie app login for the modem which resulted in all the problems and headaches trying to resolve the problem. Sometimes some of us don't think about the little simple things, it always has to be big, mind-blowing problems that involve many associated things that we have to search and search for answers to.

I sure learned a big lesson in my older years. I hope you moderators don't mind posting this for a little amusement as well as a little help for some with this same problem. Thank you for your time.

FYI, if you can't remember the PW for the CM modem, there IS a reset button on the back or under the modem and when pressed for 15 seconds then release, you can connect a wired PC or home router to the modem and give 5 minutes, log in to the modems web page using the default password when you navigate to 192.168.100.1 IP address in a web browser.
