Netgear N600 WNDR3400v3 not full download speeds

When I connect my modem (Motorolla/ARRIS SB6141) straight to my computer, I get 160 MBPS as my plan is and the modem runs in Gigabit Ethernet mode. When I connect my modem to my WNDV3400V3 Netgear router then to my computer via ethernet, I get ~90 ish MBPS and the modem runs in Fast Ethernet mode.

The N600 is rated for 600 MBPS, so why am I getting bottlenecked?

Faster WiFi speed 300+300--Up to 600 Mbps [note]

[note] Maximum wireless signal rate derived from IEEE 802.11
specifications. Actual data throughput and wireless coverage will
vary and may be lowered by network and environmental conditions,
including network traffic volume and building construction.
NETGEAR makes no representations or warranties about this
          product's compatibility with future standards.

"Up to" and "for" are spelled differently for a reason.  "300+300"
means no more than 300Mb/s for any one wireless connection.  And
anything which involves any of your Ethernet ports will be limited to
"Fast Ethernet" speed.  You might do better between a 2.4GHz wireless
client device and a 5GHz wireless client device.

Because you didn't read and understand the specifications of your
    gizmo?

I recommend you update your router to something newer to enjoy good ISP speeds and WiFi connection rates. Maybe a R7000 would be a good start.
