Please downgrade the FW to v1.4x:

Try a different PC or laptop as well.

How can I do this if the ports do not recognize anything is connected?

  TFTP or the NMRPFlash program should work, just follow the instructions.
  
  It is possible the mode is in a bad state and TFTP may not work.
