There's a new cable modem vulnerability called Cable Haunt that enables local and remote attackers to execute abitrary code on your cable modem. Through malicious communication with the modem, a buffer overflow can be exploited to gain control of the modem.

Question for NETGEAR - is the CM700 vulnerable to the Cable Haunt attack? Any plans to update the hw/fw to fix?

Been discussed already.
Fix needs to come from Broadcom first, then NG will integrate it into FW, then pass this on to ISPs for additional testing before they push the fix to modems out in the field.
The CM is a Intel chipset based modem. Not Broadcom. The CM700 would have been effected by the Puma vulnerability which I beleve has been patched.
