New Public IP to avoid DOS / Packet Loss
Hello,
I am running my internet with NightHawk C7800 router/modem combo. I have been noticing a lot of packet loss (10%) , and loss of performance during streaming and online gaming.
Upon checking my log i noticed a variety of DOS attack happening throughout the day. I honestly dont know if the DOS attack reported are the root cause of the packet loss (maybe the router gets overloaded?).
I tried mutliple time working with my ISP (spectrum) they say they dont see any signal issue on their end, they reprovisioned the modem multiple time still same thing.
One of my thinking is to get a new Public IP to (hopefully ) removing the DOS attack all together and see if that improves performance. Spectrum tells me there is nothing they can do and i should contact NetGear. I tried releasing the IP , leaving the modem without power for a few hours but i still pick up the same ip.
I feel that Spectrum is giving the run around and they probably the only one who can change my public IP.
Anyone knows how to make it happen?
Not sure if that s related but i am also seeing a bunch of weird error upon start up:

Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status page.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

https://www.duckware.com/tech/solving-intermittent-cable-modem-issues.htmlNetgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Cable Modem products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Cable modems and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:
