Which Cable Modem Router are we talking about here?
AC1600 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number. C6250?

Could be that your modem/router predates that feature, especially if it works with the genie rather than the Nighthawk app.
Unfortunately, some features need new firmware on the router and cable devices are beyond the control of Netgear or anyone else. Only ISPs can change those and most don't bother.
Find the manual for your device and see if it supports Remote Management.

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Look for the model number on the label on the device.

got a computer/server that is on all the time? If so, install teamviewer on it and just remote into the desktop/server. From there you could access it.
