Nighthawk AC1900 C7000V2 Modem Router slow download speeds
I have 600 MBPS coming into the unit and if I get within 3' of it, I can get about 211 coming out via WIFI. That is with the Ookla speed testing. Unplugging it for a period doesn't change anything. F...

It is premature to declare your modem/router unit as bad, shot, or junk.
Testing internet throughput over a Wi-Fi connection is primarily a reflection of the device you are running the test on.
Ookla native application test is appropriate for your connection if your are using a computer connected to the modem/router through a good Ethernet cable. If your results indicate you are obtaining the throughput that compares favorably to what you are purchasing from your ISP, then you can focus on configuration of your Wi-Fi.
According to this post it appears to be a regular problem with this modem router unit.

There are a lot of variables involved with the throughput capacity of a Wi-Fi connection. Placing blame on the modem/Wi-Fi router hardware would be relatively low on the list. At the top of the list would be the configuration of the Wi-Fi router, capacity of the device you are using to test, and the radio frequency environment where you are testing. The environment includes home construction material and interference from other Wi-Fi sources,
"But Wifi is only around 270 Mbps." This is pretty good and around the top range that you seen on 5Ghz AC wifi. Most devices top out at around 300-500Mpbs. You'll not see anywhere near 900Mpbs on 5Ghz WiFi on this model modem.

My ethernet speed with a new cable is about 94 with 2.4.
