Nighthawk C7100V combo modem router

Just purchased this unit and discovered it “needs” a battery. Does it need the battery to function? Or is the battery only used to work if the power to the house stops?

    No, it does not need a battery to function.  The battery is only needed to function in the event of a power outage.

     

    Both the Quick Start Guide and the User Manual indicate the battery is sold separately.

It did not come with a Battery? What does the user manual say about this?

This is what the operators manual says.  I read this to say the unit will run without the battery.  I will set up the unit and confirm that it does not need a battery to function.
