Nighthawk C7100V phone ports compatible with Optimum?

I have optimum service.  I am looking to upgrade from my rented Aris Tm822. I need a cable modem with a phone port.   I was looking at the C7100V, but am reading the phone will not work with Optimum.

1. IS this true?   If this modem will not work is there one you can recommend?

    You'd need to check with optimum on that. They have the compatibility list of approved devices and what will work with their service.

    The C7100v and CM1150v are phone supporing modems. Be sure to check with the ISP first for compatibility and support.
