What do you want to achieve?

If it is just to have better wifi coverage with the Mesh capability that comes with Orbi, then put the Orbi into access point mode.

To avoid confusing nearby wifi clients, you can turn off the modem/router's wifi switch on the front.

Many people like to run Orbi systems in AP mode:

Then beware this:

A lot of that is in the hands of your modem/router. But if you want to use Armor or Smart Parental Controls you will have to try another strategy.

Or replace the C7800 with a modem only box. Many experienced users prefer that approach because it means they have a better choice of router than they can get with modem/routers.

Cable modem-only devices don't have to be expensive unless you want one with lots of bells and whistles and go-fast stripes down the side.
