Nighthawk CAX80 - Guest Network Options

I'm looking at purchasing a new router and leaning towards the AX6000 WiFi Cable Modem Router (CAX80)  I've contacted Netgear 3x so far and they can't seem to give me a straight answer, just keep quoting the user manual, which doesn't answer my question, so I'm hoping someone in the community can help

I see in the manual there is an option for "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network". However, what I want is for guest devices to have access to the internet, be able to see other devices on the Guest network, but not have access to my local network. I am trying to find out if this is the default functionality if I don't check that box, or if this is not possible with this router. I was hoping to isolate my IoT devices on the guest network via this method, as I'm currently doing with an older Archer router, but I'm not sure if this is possible with the Nighthawk Modem/Router.

  • Well possible that NG may close having guest devices access to each other. This has been a security risk over time and NG may close this. Not sure if or when that might happen. Guest Network works normally for internet access.

Guest Network is isolated from the main LAN.

Understood. However, what I'm wondering is if Guests can see each other and access the internet while remaining isolated. Some routers don't allow internet access unless you allow them to interact with local network, others don't allow Guests to see each other.
