Nighthawk CM2050V Comcast Firmware Killed Speed
I understand Comcast has just updated the firmware in these routers from V2.01.03 to V9.01.01. My download speed went from 934 to 225. Comcast tech came out yesterday and cleared some signal loss b...

I contacted a supervisor who actually responded he could see the modem was not properly provisioned, he opened another ticket and one of their best techs came out. I think they fixed it from inside but he was excellent. Problem solved after a month and about 15 tickets opened. Thanks for the encouragement

Do you work for Netgear?...your responses do not make sense. There are thousands upon thousands of reviews on the net indicating the modem is junk...I'm the fool who had hope. I'm the fool who spent 325 bucks on a piece of junk. I'm pissed. It's despicable that Netgear puts out this garbage with so many negative reviews and people having similar experiences as me...they should be sued. I'll never buy another Netgear product. What I'll get Comcast to do is install their own modem since most of what is out there is crap now. Then they can replace their own junk when it goes out. I installed 2 Arris T25's before this and they were both garbage....first one never came up and the second caused constant static on the telephony lines. I give up and I'm not someone who does.

If you are talking to me, no, I do not work for Netgear. I am a retired electrical engineer who worked for 45+ years in the communications business. Mostly machine controls. I came to this community some years ago and asked for help. It was willingly provided and resolved the issue I was working on. I pay the community back when I can.
The sooner you start having Comcast charge your credit card for a gateway lease, the better you will feel.
My CM2050V has been in service since September 2021 and has not missed a beat. The first firmware update was a few weeks ago as Comcast is working on their infrastructure for the mid-split configuration update.

Sorry. You're fortunate yours is still working. No I won't feel good being charged monthly for a modem....always had my own. I do most everything myself, always have. I can't believe after trying to upgrade my old Arris Tombstone a few months back that worked fine, I cannot get a modem that works. That does not seem to be a coincidence reading the reviews on Amazon and Best Buy. The Arris T25 and the Netgear CM2050V are the only ones Comcast is recommending for my service that includes 2 VOIP lines. I have my own router. I live in the mountains with no cell service unless I walk 200 ft into the middle of the street so I need the telephony. When I make suggestions to the Comcast tech support people they act like they don't understand...they have their own agenda or procedure, so making suggestions to them is futile....it's always 2 ships passing in the night. They took a month to send me someone who knew what he was doing. The first guy was a contractor who did not even have the tools to do his job so he lied to me. The guy today was a real technician with a great attitude....the best tech from them I've had in 9 yrs. I'm really at my wits end with this s**t. I've spent about 100 hours trying to find someone from Comcast who can get a modem working between the 3 modems I've tried. I had to call back many many times until I got someone who could do their job.

When your new Comcast gateway is installed, please use the same Ethernet cable and connect the same laptop computer to the internet and run your throughput tests and report the results.
Thanks.
