Has a power OFF of the modem for 1 minute and connected router been performed since FW was updated on the modem?
Brand and model# of th \e external router that is connected to the modem?
CAT# LAN cable between the modem and router? CAT6A STP is recommended.
Had the modem been working prior to this FW update?

Yes, the power off of the modem for one minute is the only thing that allows me to get back online after a random shutdown... the modem is an Orbi 970, Xfinity has replaced and upgraded the cable connection and the ethernet cale is CAT6A STP.... yes the modem worked perfectly before this "upgrade". The unusual situation is after the off line event, the modem will appear to be back on line, top 4 lights on and 5th blue light flashing... but its not online... the power off for one minute resets it and gets it back online.

The Orbi 970 would be a wifi router MESH system, not a modem.
Ask the ISP to downgrade the modem to previous working FW version until the ISP and NG can resolve the issues on v6 FW. The ISP can only do the downgrade.
