Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 router with modem CM2000 2.5 Gbps

My ISP said I needed updated modem.. I bought the Nighthawk CM2000 2.5 Gbps. I have been using the Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 before.. Is this router capable of handling the new modems potential. Or should I get the CAX80 with built-in wifi 6 up to 6000 Gbps

The R7000 only has 1Gb WAN and LAN ports. So the most you might ever see is around 900Mpbs thru the R7000 with a ethernet connected PC.

So if I upgraded to the CAX80 modem router.. I would be better off? Im not super technical just enough to get by. I'll make the purchase if it's worth it overall. Thank you. BTW.

What is your ISP speed UP and DOWN that you pay for.

You could keep the CM modem and then upgrade the R7000 to something that could use the WAN port speed like the RAX120/200 or RAXE500 or the Orbi 8 series.

The CAX80 is a all in one combo unit so your limited by it's current design and support features. I has a 2.5Gb LAN port but only 1. The rest of the LAN ports are all 1Gb.
