Nighthawk x4s C7800 AC3200 slow WiFi

Hello, I just got this modem/router combo, at first I used the one Xfinity gave me but I don’t want to get stuck renting it so I got this one. I’m paying for Gigabit speed and with both devices I get wired speeds 950+ Mbps. On WiFi tho with the Xfinity device I got 500+ Mbps but with the Nighthawk I can’t get more than 250 Mbps (on the 5G network, the other one I get 20-30 Mbps). Is the problem in the Nighthawk or could it be something else? I tried to change the ports but the speeds only got worse. I’ll be very grateful for any help.

You say nothing about the wifi clients here and how you are measuring those speeds.

Are these identical measurements with exactly the same devices?

Funny to see 250 Mbps described as "slow". How times have changed.

Where do "ports" come into the wifi thing?

I'd be more interested in looking at bands, modes and channels along with the many other wifi settings.

In general, experienced users seem to prefer keeping modem and router as separate devices. Modem routers are generally less powerful than routers on that front. And with cable Internet you are tied to the Internet service provider when it comes to firmware updates. With a standalone router that is in your hands.

The wired speeds I’m measuring with my Apple TV and the Speedtest app and the WiFi with my iPhone 8 Plus with the Speedtest app.
I’m sorry, by “port” I meant “channel”.
And by “slow” I meant “slower than the Xfinity modem router.
