No internet on routers connected to modem
I purchased a brand new Nighthawk CM1100 cable modem just yesterday. Contacted Xfinity and had it activated with no issues. My PC is wired directly to one port on the modem and the internet is working just fine. However, the internet is not working with any wireless router I connect to the modem. I have a brand new Orbi router and have also tried my son's Nighthawk router, which works fine at his home with Xfinity. I have tried different ethernet cables, swapping ports on the modem, attempted without the PC connected, reboots, and factory resets. Always the same issue: PC has internet and connecting to the network always tells me the internet is unavailable. Any ideas? Is there a setting I need to change or is the modem defective? The modem is currently at v2.01.02.
Here's what I'd do.
1. Reset the modem and the router. Start fresh on both devices.
2. Turn the modem on. Give it a couple minutes to fully boot. What are the lights doing?
3. Plug router into the 1 port on the cm1100 (don't use the other port at all) and turn it on. give it a couple minutes to boot. what are the lights on the modem doing now?4. Hardwire your computer into the router. Does it work? Can you access the modem from the router? and by that i mean go to the modem configuration page. Usually its at 192.168.100.1. some providers use a different modem address but thats the standard one.
5. If you can access the configuration page, what is it showing for your connections? Take a screen print and post that here.
6. If you can't access the modem, can you contact your provider to have your device reprovisioned?

Thank you!
This worked after hooking up only the router, but it took two tries for some reason. Then I couldn't get the PC to work. I looked at the user manual and think I have it figured out. While not spelled out, I think you can only use LAN port 2 on the modem if you want to activate port aggregation. Restarting fresh with only the router hooked into LAN port 1 got it working and now my PC works when it's wired directly into my router. I did try this yesterday and it didn't work, but I think that may have been an issue caused by the Orbi satellite somehow becoming unsynced during setup and wreaking havoc on my ability to complete the process.
