Interesting, Office allowed you to install it on XP? Didn't think it would allow it.
Power off the modem and back ON to see if the PC will gain internet access? Try a factory reset on the modem and setup from scratch?
Be sure your network adapter is fully functional. Does it get an IP address after the modems is powered OFF then back ON?
If the TV works and the PC doesn't, I presume the modem is working fine and your PC needs to be looked at.

I uninstalled Office 2016 and I could use internet on pc for 1 day - yet now pc doesn't recognize the router. I know the router is connected properly as I can video stream to my tv.
