R6300v2 Netgear router

I have a speed of 75mps.  When I by pass my router with my laptop I have a speed greater than 75 and also on my desktop but when I go wireless I drop down to about 40.  Suddenlink said that sometimes it is a setting in my router.  Any suggestions on how to fix that?

    It could be your laptop.  What is the model of its Wi-Fi adapter?  And are you connecting to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network?
