Remote Management
Is the Nighthawk capable of being remote managed or not? I can't get a straight answer. I want the ability to reboot router from iPhone while out of town. Who can answer this and how? Please

Bugger ... poor continuity and seriously no real plan on the Netgear consumer products group side.

Here is something to consider. I'm there but its not the path I wanted.
1. I configured C7000v2 (AC1900) Advanced/Remote Management. Now hold that thought, Remote Management is an option for this hardware................neither Genie or Nighthawk apps work with the Router. Are listening Netgear ? ? ?
I setup a unique Port for https..........yes, its slower, encrypted etc. etc.
2. As I had already posted, I use no-ip DNS for other things, so I configured it in this Router as well. Dah...........it offers that as one of the three DNS Services.....interesting. As you had posted, DNS has nothing to do w/Remote Management but it does.
3. I just used my iPhone /Safari (gee an app would have been nice!) and connected to my DNS URL w/https and using the unique port number I entered in the Nighthawk router.
4. I logged in to the router and was able to reboot it (my original post and query) it worked, Safari sucks on a phone, but got it to work. I don't like the security of choosing "everyone" but I'm not using my internet's IP, I'm using a unique host name and unique port number.

(WAN/Internet public) IP address instead of your DDNS name. The
advantage of DDNS is that the DDNS name should follow any changes in
your public IP address. - Fix1tN0wApr 10, 2019Aspirant
Netgear sold this router telling me they had an app that could remote manage the hardware. Yes, presales told me that.. Appears they don't know their infrastructure. Nighthawk app doesn't even work while connected on my own WiFi. I can only use Genie app and its being discontinued. Real nice Netgear.................are you reading what Communities users have to say about your products?

Clearly not supported, as shown in the references above.

If you are still in the 90 days of free support, please place a complaint.
I can only express again on how unlucky (nicely said) abandoning the Genie App is Christian_R ChristineT please really push this to the people in charge!

All very unfortunate. For us community members - you realize there were no Netgear people participating - it's extremely hard to stay on track and oversee all the many products and versions. Reflecting this thread again, I should have been aware that (not only) the C7000 and the C7000v2 - while supporting Genie - are not allowing remote access why ever. In our home market (central Europe/Switzerland) there is no market for the cable modem/routers - all supplied by the ISPs exclusively - so zero own hands-on experience. Sorry gain for the misleading hint on the Genie App.
