Thanks for getting back! Oh my God!!!! I think I'm in over my head!!!!!🤣.
Unfortunately my Nighthawk is a modem and a router. Your reply tells me that's bad news, for it makes things even more complicated, That pushes me deeper into the water.... It's a Nighthawk cable modem router CAX 30. i'll take this item up with a local IT store and see what they say, but my sense is this is going nowhere......
Any suggestions on where I can donate this to someone who can make it work? I just don't want to throw it away.

Not really. It just means that you have to think of the CAX30 as two separate devices in one box.
The answers you received were based on knowing nothing about your device. That's why there were warnings about NAT and other things. You can ignore all off that stuff about "bridge mode".
That's why it helps to provide as much detail as possible about your network,
Unlike older cable modem/routers the CAX30 has separate firmware for the modem and router. You can do nothing about the modem bit. Only the Internet service provider can intervene there.
On the other hand, you can update the firmware on the router bit.
So far though, the only thing we know about your CAX30 is that it "has lost its software program.Network Name: Netgear60."
What does that mean?
It doesn't have a "software program". And Network Name: Netgear60 is just the default setting for the SSID for your wifi. Maybe the wifi got turned off somehow. There's a button for that on the front of the router.
If the only symptom that you see is that "Netgear60" isn't there, "software" or firmware damage are unlikely.
Come back with a more detailed explanation of what you see, what you are doing and where it goes wrong and you might get better advice.
The first simple test is to look at the LEDs on your CAX30 device.
What does the power LED look like?
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Troubleshoot With the LEDs.
By the way, while many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge. As you have discovered, modem/routers are not the same as the standard routers covered in this section.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
