My personal name no longer appears in my network options it changed to net gear what would cause this and how do I fix it

That was unclear. Punctuation might have helped a little.
Are you trying to say that the SSID of your (unspecified) router's
wireless network now has a different name? If so, then you might try
(re)configuring the router, which may have been reset for some unknown
reason.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. The User Manual should explain the procedure.
