Setting Netgear R6250 as a wifi extender on a VIrgin network
I am trying to extend my Virgin network to the back of my house and garden using a Netgear R6250. I also want to attach a TV and a Sky box into the Netgear Router with cables. The Netgear router is connected to the Virgin Super Hub 2,0 by cable (we built it into the wall when we did an extension). I changed teh IP address of teh Netgear router to the same pattern as that from the Virgin hub - using 192.168.0.200 as its IP address (the Virgin is set to release IP addresses up to 190). I have disabled DHCP. But when I hook everything up - the Netgear router IP address is set to a 169.254 address
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks so much for the response. If I set the router up as an AP will I still be able to connect devices to it using cables to the ports at the back?
Sorry if I am asking ridiculous questions
