Slow page and typing on C3700 modem/router

My name is Josh and I generally like Netgear.

However, I recently got a C3700 modem/router combo and it's slow. The pages load slow and I see the gray dots of a page load liek it's thinking all the time. Also, scrolling is a chore--some of the graphics you ahveait 15 to 20 seconds to type. Even typing this is taking forever due to lag. I have a Window 7 PC-Toshiba with 4 GB of ram from 2011. V1.01.11 is my current firmware and tha'ts correct. I've also power-cycled it a few tiems.

Speedtest shows good results of 34.43DL and 5.43UL. I went on the main netgear page and checked admin settings. I checked and the downstream +/- is between -8 and 8 (about 7.0 to 7.9). The upstream setting recommends me be above 30 and I'm at 33.

The connection is wireless; I don't have an ethernet cord so am using the wireless settings. The machine is 8 inches from the computer--should it be moved?

I'm not sure what's causing it. I have WOW! a Columbus Ohio-based ISP and they did a line test; it looks normal on their end. As yo ucan see even typing this there are lagging issues.

    Hello jaecht83

Are you able to test with another device? It could be a pc issue because your speeds sound fine and the internet shouldn't affect the scrolling or typing on the PC. Or even try with a different web browser.

  • I think it's faster now because I hooked an Ethernet cable to it and did a reboot and a factory settings reset as well. Those three things helped. Could it be due to it being in the evening too?
