Slow WAN speed wireless - Cable Gateways

Hi Team,

I searched for KB article on 'How to troubleshoot slow WAN speed - wired/wireless' in your support portal. But I couldn't figure it out. However below is the set of troubleshoot which I had performed.

Model: C6300

FV: Up to date with ISP

Laptop: Win7 & Win8 - Both the Laptop's WLAN supports AC Wi-Fi standard

Smartphone: iPhone6s & iPhone7 with latest iOS

ISP: Xfinity

Subscribed Internet Speed: D/L - 200Mbps & U/L: ~ 60Mbps

Issue not just happening during the peak hours. Through out the day, wireless internet speed is too low.

Microwave Oven is turned OFF (too far away from the Gateway)

No interfering devices nearby

Ensured all the devices are disconected from the Gateway network while doing speed test wireless with Gateway

When Laptop hardwired to the Gateway using CAT6 cable this is what the internet speed - 180Mbps/55Mbps

Disconnected ethernet connection from Laptop

Already removed preferred wireless networks

Using Gateway preset wireless settings

No other configurations done on the gateway except provisioning it with ISP (Xfinity)

When performed speed test wireless again it flickering between 30 - 40Mbps

Not just with 2.4GHz also with 5GHz

I don't think so it is nothing to do with device DS / US Power / SNR / Channel Lock Status

Changing the Gateway wireless channel / Mode doesn't resolved the issue. I changed the channel using the option 'Wireless Channel' in the GUI. Also tested the interferences using NETGEAR Wi-Fi Analytics App.

Note: Did reset, power cycle, reprovisiong the device with ISP, ensure WLAN adapter is updated with latest driver, tested with multiple locations and still the issue is same.

This slow wireless speed issue isn't happening only with C6300 and also with other NETGEAR cable gateway's.

Moreover there is no valid or the MOST appropriate KB article available for speed issues (Wired/Wireless)

How to fix these issues?

When will the appropriate KB articles posted for speed issues?

If possible, check the number of customers reporting about the slow WAN speed wireless issues to you guys. Specficailly with NETGEAR Cable Gateways.

Regards,,

    Hello Netrags

I would test the network by disconnecting every device from the wifi and then connect your newest device and test the speed then add a device 1 by one and see if one of you devices are causing the slow down.
