Slow WIFI Speeds - Cox Gigablast
Hello, I have C7800 / Cox ISP / Gigablast plan (rated for 940 MBPS). I routinely get no more than 70 - 80 MBPS on the 2.4 channel and no more than 100 - 110 MBPS on the 5G. Cox has stated tha...

What wireless device are you using?
Most 5Ghz AC mode devices max out at 400-500Mpbs depending on designe and support of the device. You'll never see anything near 800-900Mpbs on wireless 5Ghz AC. Ethernet you should.

Thanks for your reply.
I have speed tested on multiple mobile devices... iPhones, iPads, etc. And, from multiple locations throughout my home.
I have also tested on my PC.
I know that I'll never get anywhere near 900 MBPS on WIFI.
But, I feel that WIFI speeds of 400 - 500 MBPS is not too much to ask for consistently based on my ISP plan and this $400 device that is only 6 months old.
I'm currently never getting more than 70 - 80 MBPS on 2.4 channel and 100 - 110 on the 5G channel.
Wired speeds are just as bad as 2.4 channel or even worse.

What is the connection rates your seeing with one of your wifi devices. For Apple or Android, load up WiFi sweetspots app. Then connect to the 2.4Ghz radio then check. Then connect to the 5Ghz radio then check the app.
Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 26 thru 48 or 149 thru 161 channel on 5Ghz.

I got the sweetspots app for iPhone. I've tested on both 2.4 and 5 channels. Attached are the speeds. What's weird with the 5G test was that tests done within just a few seconds of each other via the sweetspot and Google speed test tool came up with drastically different results.
I also manually changed the channels suggested above via routerlogin.net and tested both 2.4 and 5G in different configurations. No noticeable difference to speed.
