How big is your home? Thats also key.
Your modem already supports gigabit service. and if you buy from verizon, you have to use their ont/gateway.
So it really comes down to router.
Your R6260 is the one of the most basic of gigabit routers they make.
so it'll basically be worth it to upgrade to something with a little more speed/capability.
Or upgrade to something like a mesh system if you're wanting more coverage.

Maybe upgrade the 6 series router to something newer like a RAX series router. You won't be able to sue the CM series modem on FIOS. FIOS uses completely different hardware. The ISP will most likely be providing this.

We also may stay with Comcast and ditch the cable and phone but replace the CM1150V and R6260 with the CAX80. I've been satisfied with the coverage we get from the R6260 - our home is a two story 2600 sq. ft. with the modem and router pretty much in the center of the home on the 2nd floor. We have TMobile for our cellular service and Ooma for our home phone, both working well.
I noticed some gamers having issues with the CAX80 but also saw a new firmware release that may have fixed their issues. We're not gamers but just want to have decent download/upload speeds over Wi-Fi and be able to stream 4K to our smart tvs.
I was hoping to go with one piece of equipment (lower overall cost and less maintenance) but if separating the modem from the router would provide more throughput and reliability, I may opt for that. I'd have to do that if switching to Fios anyway.
I've be using Netgear for almost 20 years, in business and for my home. However, I could be open to changing if the manufacturer and equipment was superior in quality and customer support.
Any other thoughts or suggestions for either Comcast or Verizon? Thanks again for your thoughts and suggestions.
