Unlock VM Super Hub 2ac (VMDG490) to use on another isp?

Hello,

I recently cancelled my Virgin Media (UK isp) contract and they said I could keep the modem I was provided.

This is a Netgear Super Hub 2ac, a.k.a VMDG490. 1300Mbps, 802.11ac. I'm moving to the us and since I was very happy with this modem I'd like to install it to use with a different isp, Comcast.

 

Is it possible to "unlock" the modem -by installing a new firmware or other means- in order to be used with another internet provider??

 

In the label of this modem there it also says "C6250" wich is supposed to be a generic Netgear model..

    Hello manurico

     

    You would have to contact Comcast with the MAC address and check and see if it will work with there system but since its a ISP specific modem it could be locked to that ISP no way to unlock it.
