Unstable after Comcast updated firmware

I have exactly the same issue (along with a lot of folks if you look around various threads on a variety of sites).  Just wondering if anyone has had any luck getting either Netgear or Xfinity to even admit there is an issue or provide a workaround (other than renting a modem from them).  I'm not 100% sure of how the firmware is written and tested but I suspect both companies are playing a part in the problem.  I find it unlikely that Xfinity actually writes any of the firmware.  More likely, Netgear writes the firmware and Xfinity configures, tests and pushes it.  From my experience you can't even get Xfinity to admit they push the firmware.  Their tech support plays the "it's a 3rd party modem so we don't do anything with it" even when you point them a the official Netgear site that says otherwise they don't stay from their script.

At this point, I hate to say it but I may have to go back to using an Xfinity provided modem.  Prior to the v9 firmware push my CM2050V was rock solid.  Since the push it is almost unusable with daily occurrences of high latency, packet loss and disconnects.  In the worst cases the modem needs to be physically rebooted (when I can't get in remotely to reboot).
