USB printer setup, router is not recognizing printer (Canon Pixma MG2522) when via USB

Hi, I am trying to connect my wireless printer Canon MG2522 Pixma to my modem/router N600 C3700 via USB.  But when I connect I don’t see the USB light turning on. But I can see it working while connecting a flash drive though. I have installed printer software on my machine and also installed ReadyShare USB utility software as well. But when I run the readyshare I don’t see any printers displayed to connect. I am trying this setup on Windows 10. Looking for some help on this. Thanks.

  • It could be a compatibility issue.  If not try different cable. Isn't the printer wireless capable?  USB connected printer is not very stable.

As a matter of fact I never attach anything to the router. I use NAS, I use wireless printers.

  • Thanks for your response. My bad it was a typo. I meant i was trying to connect a regular printer. I can give a try using a different cable though. The cable I am using worked when i connect it to my PC directly. So didnt suspect that.
  • Tried with a different cable, no luck it didnt work. I am not seeing my router identifying the printer while connecting with an USB
