Will my family member be able to use a CM1000 with firmware V6.01.02 and Cox ISP?
Should? I can't say 100% because people have had issues before when changing modems between isp's. But it shoud.
What modem are you upgrading to?
the CM1100 and CM1200 use basically the same chipset and the main benefit is link aggregation. Which I don't consider much of a benefit as many people have issues with link aggregation for stability and speeds.

Fingers crossed then that the newer firmware is compatible or that Cox can rollback the firmware.
I am upgrading to the CM1100 and am going to attempt to use link aggregation. If The CM1000 with firmware V6.01.02 will not work with Cox I will just send my family member the CM1100 and keep the CM1000.

What router are you using with the link aggregation?
Check through some of the forum posts. Not everyone has issues but if you do have issues with the link aggregation, there's quite a few posts with tips/tricks for getting it running better.
