so tell me do the modems need the vpn if they are only for routers? everyone tells me not to forward my ip camera ports but i can't see them when gone . but then others tell me the reason i can't see my cameras is because i do not the ports forwarded. so i change the port numbers for most all my cameras. but the onvif cameras i have will not let me port forward them or will they let me change the username or passwrods. so they are about useless for security form the internet.
on the ip camera forum fenderman tells me i have to get a free vpn. i sadi i was paying for one he said they have them for free on routers and modems. if i understood him correctly. and guys on that site said the asus modems ahve the free vpn service and the netgear should also have it. thanks

ok i have been told on the ip cam forum that the netgrear products have a vpn built into them, and the asus has it in them also. the asus people jsut sent me an email telling me there products do not have built in vpn service and that i have to get a paid service. the ip cam people told me that i do not need to get a service as it is built into the netgear and asus modems and routers.. but according to asus there's do not. so can someone tell me if the nordvpn servce for which you pay for will work on the c3700 moden router combo unit? and if so is there any videos on how to set it up. and also if i get one setup on my modem will i still need to do prot forwarding on my modem? thanks

Contact NordVPN and ask them if there services work the C series modems. I presume they do as the modem would just a pass thru. There service would be setup on the end point client devices, not on the router.
NG R series routers use OpenVPN. However again, these are stand alone routers. Not modem gateways.
Also seach youtube for videos on setting up software based VPN services.
