will the cax80 get docsis 4.0 via firmware update? or are we SOL

docsis 4.0 will be rolling out and was wondering if anyone knew of compatibilities with older modems? thanks!

I believe D4.0 is a new and different hardware spec. Means new modems have to support this in HW and FW.

That's what I was thinking, too, but wanted someone from netgear to confirm as well.

    It is a hardware change. 

    And there's still debate on which route to go for docsis 4.0 with xfinity taking a different path than other isp's
