Xfinity download speed compatibility with Netgear modem CM2050V

No modem setting or change required. Did you restart your network, modem first then the router after the modem had fully booted?
How are you testing your throughput? With a device connected via Wi-Fi or through an Ethernet cable?
Recommend you use the Ookla stand alone test application that is available from the play store.
What is the brand name and model number of the router you have connected to your CM2050V?

I did restart the modem and router, but concurrently. I'll try again in the sequence you suggest.
The device that's not reflecting increased speed is my DT connected to the router via ethernet cable.
Interesting that wireless devices are showing increases.
I am using Ookla. But thanks for that suggestion.

Is the Ethernet port on your desktop computer rated at 1 Gbps? That could be your bottleneck, or possibly a bad/old Ethernet cable.
The Ethernet output ports on your router are rated at 1 Gbps.
In real life, most 1 Gbps rated Ethernet ports will transfer data at around 920-940 Mbps.
The Ookla stand alone application gets good results, an Ookla web site via a web browser does not.

My DT is 5 yrs old and has the following ethernet network card installed, and you're correct, rated at 1gbps!

So, yes, this is my bottleneck.
Can a firmware patch be applied to support faster downloads, or should I replace the ethernet control card?

The RAX only has 1Gb WAN and LAN ports and this is a hardware limit. Nothing else can be changed on the RAX to make it go over that. Thats a hard limit. If you have higher speeds with the CM series modem from the ISP thats over 1Gb, you'll need a different router that sports 2.5Gb or higher speeds on the WAN and LAN ports.
NG Orbi and Nighthawk have products that have this now.
Id check to see if Protection Engine is enabled on your RAX50v2, newest FW has this feature.
Disable it and re-test.
