Xfinity download speed compatibility with Netgear modem CM2050V
Hi Everyone - My Xfinity download speed was increased from 1000 to 1200mbps, but I'm not realizing the gain. Is there a Netgear CM2050V modem setting change required, or firmware upgrade I need...

My DT is 5 yrs old and has the following ethernet network card installed, and you're correct, rated at 1gbps!
"killer e2400 gigabit"
So, yes, this is my bottleneck.
Can a firmware patch be applied to support faster downloads, or should I replace the ethernet control card?

The RAX only has 1Gb WAN and LAN ports and this is a hardware limit. Nothing else can be changed on the RAX to make it go over that. Thats a hard limit. If you have higher speeds with the CM series modem from the ISP thats over 1Gb, you'll need a different router that sports 2.5Gb or higher speeds on the WAN and LAN ports.
NG Orbi and Nighthawk have products that have this now.

Thank you. I see. This helps a lot. I think the best option is to revert to my ISP's 1000mbps tier to save a little money. I really don't need the additional bandwidth anyway.
Thanks,
Allan

Ya I get that as well. I see lots of users posting getting over 1Gb from ISPs, thats good and all but realistically, does everyone need over 1Gb? Ya I have the ability to support over 1Gb WAN and LAN, but my ISP only pushes 1Gb. And it works well for my needs. Maybe later at some point you can upgrade the router HW. But for now, use what works for ya. You'll be fine. đ

Thanks Furrye38. I was considering upgrading my router too since i would like additonal coverage outside the house.
