Ac1900 (r700) - LAN led is ambar (or red), not white, for Powerline av500. Is it ok ?

I have just purchased a AC1900 (R7000) Nighthawk Netgear router.

It is installed and working fine, except tha the LAN Led for the ethernet port that my powerline AV500 is connected is not white. It is blinking red (or ambar?).

A check the Powerline network (genie e powerline tool) and I believe the data is going trough.

Why is the lED red not White?

Am I loosing intenet speed ?

Is there any special configuration that has to be done either on the Netgear? or on the Powerline ?

Thank you,

Paul

  • What's the exact model number of your adapter? The XWNB5201, for example, is a Powerline AV 500 adapter but it only has a 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet port.

  • Am amber/red light indicates that the Ethernet port is connected at 100 Mbps.  Your Powerline AV500 probably has a 100 Mbps Ethernet port.

      Hi TheEther,

Thank you for the reply, but the tech epec of the AV500 say:

         Bridge Performance

             MAC addresses: 64

             Bandwidth 500 Mbps

         Powerline Performance Compatibility:

             HomePlug AV, IEEE 1901

Data Transfer Rate: Up to 240 Mbps

             Frequency band: 1.8 – 68.5 Mbps

             Modulation type: OFDM symbol modulation

So I think it is more than 100 mbps.

May be there is some where a configuration to be ajusted ?

      Thank you again,

      Paul
