It is a lot easier if you use the same brand, but the process will be something like this:

Thanks for input, you have reinforced my conclusion that I need to get the same model (version). I had seen the instruction you referenced and tried many, many times to synch the new extenders with no success. I had initially questioned the techs at the store about the compatibilty issue and should have gone with my own gut when they said it would sync with the "push of a button".
