Adding additional access point
The set I'm planning to buy (NETGEAR PowerLINE 1000 Mbps WiFi, 802.11ac, 1 Gigabit Port - Essentials Edition (PLW1010-100NAS)) contains 1 adapter and 1 access point. I would like to have 2 or 3 access points to use in separate rooms that could work with the same adapter connected to the router.
- Is that possible?
- If yes, can I purchase access points only, not in a set with adapter(s) since i need only one adapter?
Is that possible?Yes.
If yes, can I purchase access points only, not in a set with adapter(s) since i need only one adapter? No. Netgear, and all other suppliers of powerline devices, sell in pairs.
You can mix and match any plugs that use the AV standard. Speed and maker don't matter, although the network will run at the speed of the slowest plugs.
When you do add new plugs to an existing powerline network, it is important to introduce them to each other:
