Adding wifi facility yo PL 1000 system
A Power line 1000 was added by Virgin Media to provide link from Virgin Hub 3 to the new V 6 TV Box system which is around 40 feet from Hub 3 Modem/Router. But no wifi. Hope to add a unit to the ...

You've got it. The PLW1000 suggested by clithes would deliver wifi into the TV room as well as a wired link to the TV.
The "remote" end of the PLW1000 is an Access Point for wifi and a LAN socket for the TV. It can do both at the same time. A perfect choice for your needs.
A PLW1000 will add wifi for you, as well as provide a wired connection

I've been walking around the house with a wifi device to find wifi good in the router room and nearby as well as in the rooms above but, when I get to the the second PL 1000 next to the TV set and Virgin Box, 40ft approx from source unit, there is no wifi. However, the specific wifi information on my hand held device says wifi good! I was actually told by the VIrgin installer that there would be no wifi as the TV V6 is "attached" by LAN cable to the remote PL 1000 close by, about 3 ft. Apparently the PL 1000 via our ring mains is to allow the downloading of BBC and ITV "iPlayer" which we could not obtain on our previous TiVo box because of no link to the internet. The three lights are all green at source and at remote end. I've noticed that in one internet store, there are remote devices that have an aerial on either side. The PL 1000 devices do not have aerials.
Hope I've explained OK as at my age I sometimes cannot remember specific words.

One plug connected to the hopeless BT modem and another to the "TV". (Actually a BluRay player that also does iPlayer, Amazon and stuff.)
This is a better arrangement than using wifi to connect the TV. Easier to setup, faster and more reliable.
Do you actually want wifi in the same room as the TV? If so, clithes has suggested probably the best answer.

Yes, those things confuse people. They look like Powerline plugs but they aren't. They "listen in" on wifi from a router and pass it on to nearby wifi clients. They do not get their Internet over the Powerline network. They won't add wifi to the PL1000 network.
Had you known about the wifi thing earlier, you could have bought the PLW1000 bundle rather than the PL1000. Then you could have used the LAN from the plug for the TV and the wifi bit of the plug for everything else nearby. Any chance that Virgin would do a swap?

Jokes aside, thank you for your help, things are becoming much clearer and a swap would be good as it would be useful to be able to access wifi in the TV (connected via PL 1000/LAN) room for our mobile 'phones etc.
It seems that the purchase of a PLW 1000 would make the present PL1000 system redundant, or, if just using the wifi/LAN end of the PLW 1000 would make the input end redundant. Hope to have a word with Virgin tomorrow.
I usually get there in the end particularly with the help of members of relevant communities, like your good selves, for which I'm always very gratefull
