Additional Powerline Adapters can't access internet.
Hi, I have recently purchased a new Netgear router (the R7000-100UK), turned my Virgin Media Superhub into modem only mode, and using two fairly old Netgear powerline adapters I already owned (fo...

Hi,
Changed my R7000 to Access Point mode, and took my SuperHub out of Modem only mode (but making sure the SuperHubs wireless stuff was turned off). Then made sure I didn't use any Yellow Ethernet ports when wiring up my home network,
It's all appears to be working so I'm happy that I've fixed my issue.
Thanks for all your efforts.

Can you connect wirelessly to your R7000 and connect to the internet ?
My guess is your set up between the Virgin Super Hub and your R7000 is the problem. From what you've said it sounds like your powerline adapters are all 'talking' to each other.
Did you run the setup wizard on your R7000 when you connected everything ?
You need to make sure to connect the Lan cable to the WAN port (yellow port) from the powerline adapter to your R7000

Page 13 onwards for a diagram of what your set up should look like. Only difference you have is a couple of powerline adapters making the yellow lan cable connection in the diagram

Yep, if you turn on the laptops wireless, or use any of the mobile devices that are connected to the R7000, they all can access the internet.
Not sure I did run the setup wizard when I first installed it. Happy to try running it once I get a chance if you think that might help.
Yep, the "to the SuperHub" ethernet cable is connect to the yellow port of the Router (via the two XAV5221's)

Yeah I would probably run it again. Are the wireless connections definitely to the R7000, and not the Virgin Hub ?

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in my reply.
I did try and run the set up wizard again, but it made not effect.
Just rechecked the SuperHub again. It's in "Modem Only" mode, and the admin page doesn't let you do anything other then tune off "Modem Only" mode. Also when I do a wireless network scan from my laptop, it only find the two wireless connections i set up on the R7000.
As an experiment, I added a 4 port switch between the Superhub and the working powerline adapter, then added my Hive and Hue hubs to the switch. I couldn't reboot all devices as the internet was being used at the time, but after waiting 30 minutes, neither the Hive or Hue had found the network. Not sure what this tells us if anything

Hi,
Spoke to the network chap at work after returning from our Xmas break.
He's pretty sure the problem is that I'm trying to use the yellow ethernet cable port on my router for both WAN and LAN networks. I kind of assumed that one cable could do both. He thinks the best fix would be to move the Router to the front of the house next to the modem which might be a problem getting wireless signal to all corner of the house, or turn off the R7000 DHCP and any other services I've got switched on there and turn them back on in the SuperHub, and use the R7000 for it's wireless functionality only (while making sure I don't turn on the Superhubs wireless adapter).
Can't do this for a day or two as need to explain to family that they need to redo all their network connects etc.
Will let you know if this fixes it.
